Telemedicine Boom Fuels Demand for Mobile-Friendly EHR Platforms
Description: The surge in telemedicine usage in China has made mobile compatibility a top priority for EHR/EMR vendors.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, virtual consultations and remote follow-ups remain common, especially in dense urban centers. EMR systems with well-designed mobile apps are increasingly expected by patients and doctors alike. Such apps allow access to medical history, lab results, and imaging from smartphones or tablets.
Developers are integrating features like secure chat, teleconsultation video sessions, appointment scheduling, and real‐time notifications into EHR/EMR platforms. The goal is to shorten response times, improve patient satisfaction, and reduce physical visits for routine follow ups. In rural or peripheral cities, mobile EMR tools are helping overcome barriers of distance and transportation.
However, ensuring data security on mobile platforms, offline access, and synchronization are technical hurdles. Local rules around data localization and app certification also apply. The MRFR report notes that mobile health applications are driving adoption in tandem with cloud and AI technologies.
